Welcome!
My name is Seanon Wong (or simply, "Sean"). I am an Associate Professor, Director of the BSSc Programme in Government and Public Administration, School of Governance and Policy Science, and Director of the International Affairs Research Centre, the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. During the 2025-2026 academic year, I am the CUHK-Stanford CASBS Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University. I was also formerly a Visiting Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, University of Toronto. My academic interests include international relations theory, security studies, diplomacy, political psychology, identity and intergroup conflicts, and the international relations of East Asia (particularly China). My research has appeared in leading journals in International Relations. I am on the editorial board of European Journal of International Relations and International Relations of the Asia-Pacific, the international advisory board of The Hague Journal of Diplomacy, and serve as an area editor of the Oxford Bibliographies (International Relations). I have also received the Anthony Deos Young Scholar Award (2022) and the Article Award (2017) from the Diplomatic Studies Section of the International Studies Association. I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Southern California, a Certificate from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies, and an M.A. in International Relations and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago. I am also a serious cellist and love classical music. I sometimes wonder if I should have become a musician or musicologist instead. |
